Born in Melbourne in 1956 of Dutch parents, Herman was 17 when he held his first solo exhibition in Melbourne: it was a sell-out success. He spent three years studying and painting in Amsterdam and London, where he encountered the works of Constable, Turner and Rembrandt. These impressed him and influenced his own work. On returning to Melbourne in 1982 he began studying for his fine arts degree at the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology. Dale Hickey, Jeff Makin and Clifton Pugh are just a few of the contemporary artists under whom Herman studied and who were instrumental in cultivating his appreciation of contemporary art, as well as experimentation with abstract impressionism. Yuko Nagayama is a leading watercolorist and teacher known for her easy-to-understand instructional style.  Her paintings are exhibited and sold in galleries across Japan, the United States, and Europe, and she is featured regularly in well known art periodicals.  Yuko has written two popular books, "You Can Paint Vibrant Watercolors" and "You Can Paint Dazzling Watercolors".   She is currently a professor at Musashino Art University and presides over the Otsuka Atelier. Born in 1962 in Brussels, with a professional life in the medical field, watercolor entered my life in 2003 as a Christmas gift. Self-taught, I first taught myself before taking several courses with professional artists, each of whom nourished my work in their own way. Since 2015, I have been giving beginner courses myself to share this beautiful and rich medium that is watercolor. I am fascinated by all the techniques that watercolor offers;  Each watercolor is a game, sometimes a game of patience and compromise with water and pigments, the final idea being to convey an emotion, my feelings in response to the light of a landscape, the atmosphere of a setting, the vibrancy of a floral's colors for example. I have been practicing watercolor for twenty years. I like the transparency of this demanding medium, the freedom it provides and the power of its contrasts. Watercolor gives way to dreams, evokes without imposing, reveals without revealing. Each painting is an adventure, and changing the pigments in the water is exhilarating. Self-taught for two years I rapidly had the chance to cross paths with talented and generous international artists who allowed me to refine my technique. I draw my inspiration from nature, life scenes and characters. I also practice acrylic. Painting is for me an inexhaustible passion and a great vehicle for sharing with others. I am deeply engaged in the watercolor world since 2005 as a co-foundator of  Aquarelle Reims Evénement in 2005, which I have chaired for 10 years, and Pinceaux Passion en Champagne since 2007 until now. A lover of drawing, I discovered watercolor in 1990 and I gradually developped a passion for the colors’game and the freedom with which the water disperses pigments and creates unexpected effects.  I'm looking mostly for atmospheres, highlighted in the first stage of creation, then, I give rise to the light in its full force by opposition with contrasts.  I strive to paint a range of topics to suit my interests: flowers, autumn leaves, rural and urban landscapes or marine themes. Catherine De Ryck is a Belgian artist born in 1981. She works and lives in Belgium.  The artist began drawing and oil painting at a very early age.
