Vicente Garcia Fuentes RI
My work is rooted in a profound engagement with nature. A pivotal moment in my career was the award of an artist residency scholarship in Iceland, which enabled me to immerse myself fully in the raw, ever-changing landscapes of the region. There, I began to focus more deeply on the atmospheric conditions, light, and elemental forces that continue to inform my artistic vocabulary. Watercolour became my medium of choice, valued for its immediacy, transparency, and capacity to suggest the ephemeral.
Recurring motifs in my work include glaciers, skies, ice, seas, volcanoes, and ships—elements that serve as metaphors for inner states and emotional resonance. I often modify compositions during the creative process in order to more faithfully express the emotional charge of the scene. My goal is not to reproduce reality, but to distil its essence.
My artistic vision is in constant evolution. I strive to imbue each work with sincerity and presence, aspiring to follow the path laid by the great masters of painting history while remaining anchored in a contemporary sensibility.
