Thomas Schaller AWS, NWS

Thomas W. Schaller is an internationally acclaimed artist, architect, and author based in New York City. 

In 2024 he was named the recipient of the Arthur Ross Award in Fine Arts  by the Institute of Classical Art and Architecture, the 2024 Raphael Award. 

He is also a 2024 winner of the Ogden Pleissner Award by both the American Watercolor Society and the Salmagundi Art Club, and First Place Award winner in Watercolour International. A two-time winner of the prestigious Hugh Ferriss Memorial Prize, he also won the First Place Award in the Architizer Competition. He is the author of three books, the AIA Award-Winning  Architecture in Watercolor, The Art of Drawing, and Architect of Light and his fourth book, The Creative Eye is in progress. 

His best-selling DVD, The Power of Design is published by Streamline Media. And his interactive online mentorship program “Design and the Power of Imagination” is hosted by Terracotta LLC. 

Tom is a Signature Member of many arts groups around the world and is represented by Gallery 71 in New York City.

Herman Pekel

Born in Melbourne in 1956 of Dutch parents, Herman was 17 when he held his first solo exhibition in Melbourne: it was a sell-out success. He spent three years studying and painting in Amsterdam and London, where he encountered the works of Constable, Turner and Rembrandt. These impressed him and influenced his own work. On returning to Melbourne in 1982 he began studying for his fine arts degree at the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology. Dale Hickey, Jeff Makin and Clifton Pugh are just a few of the contemporary artists under whom Herman studied and who were instrumental in cultivating his appreciation of contemporary art, as well as experimentation with abstract impressionism. His tonal works, in oil and watercolour, range from city and landscapes to café and bar interiors to dynamic industrial scenery. They all demonstrate the very best of contemporary impressionism. MATTHEW BIRD AWS, NWS

Born in Baltimore, Maryland, Matthew graduated with honors from the Pratt Institute of Art in Brooklyn, New York, in 2000. He is a Signature Member of numerous organizations, including the American Watercolor Society and National Watercolor Society, where he served as vice president. His award-winning watercolor paintings have been exhibited in juried shows across the United States, as well as in Canada, China, England, Greece, Hong Kong, and Italy. His work is in museum and private collections.
