Christa Friedl

My preference has always been to express my feelings and impressions through drawing and painting. I attended the artistic community college in Vienna and took part in advanced courses of European and American artists, to expand my artistic perspective. Living part of the year in Vienna (Europe) and part in Punta Gorda (Florida), I try to express the beauty that I see around me. The excitement of the change of seasons and the elusiveness of nature are what inherently draw me to paint plein air landscapes. To catch a special moment of a day is an on-going exploration of emotion and mood, of color and light during her painting process. Plein air painting is a wonderful way to be outside and to be totally connected to the subject. But I also enjoy painting in my studio in Punta Gorda and Vienna.
I  believe that a successful painting has a certain rhythmic and lyrical quality.

Born in Baltimore, Maryland, Matthew graduated with honors from the Pratt Institute of Art in Brooklyn, New York, in 2000. He is a Signature Member of numerous organizations, including the American Watercolor Society and National Watercolor Society, where he served as vice president. His award-winning watercolor paintings have been exhibited in juried shows across the United States, as well as in Canada, China, England, Greece, Hong Kong, and Italy. His work is in museum and private collections. Herman Pekel

Born in Melbourne in 1956 of Dutch parents, Herman was 17 when he held his first solo exhibition in Melbourne: it was a sell-out success. He spent three years studying and painting in Amsterdam and London, where he encountered the works of Constable, Turner and Rembrandt. These impressed him and influenced his own work. On returning to Melbourne in 1982 he began studying for his fine arts degree at the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology. Dale Hickey, Jeff Makin and Clifton Pugh are just a few of the contemporary artists under whom Herman studied and who were instrumental in cultivating his appreciation of contemporary art, as well as experimentation with abstract impressionism. His tonal works, in oil and watercolour, range from city and landscapes to café and bar interiors to dynamic industrial scenery. They all demonstrate the very best of contemporary impressionism.
