Brenda Swenson TWSA, SDWS


Brenda Swenson is the artist author of two books, Keeping a Watercolor Sketchbook (Finalist, Award of Excellence) and Steps to Success in Watercolor. An active participant in the arts community she has served on the board of directors for the National Watercolor Society Watercolor West and California Art Club. Achieved Signature membership in TWSA, AWA, WW’M, NWWS, SDWS and CWA. Her artwork has been featured in several volumes of Splash: Best of Watercolor, An Illustrated Journey, Creative Freedom, Complete Guide to Watercolor, Watercolor Artist, Watercolor Magazine, Watercolor Highlights, Plein Air Magazine and numerous other publications. She frequently participates as a juror and demonstrator, and offers workshops both nationally and abroad.

Being a painter is more than mastery of techniques, it’s my desire is to express (and share) how I feel about my world.

Born in Baltimore, Maryland, Matthew graduated with honors from the Pratt Institute of Art in Brooklyn, New York, in 2000. He is a Signature Member of numerous organizations, including the American Watercolor Society and National Watercolor Society, where he served as vice president. His award-winning watercolor paintings have been exhibited in juried shows across the United States, as well as in Canada, China, England, Greece, Hong Kong, and Italy. His work is in museum and private collections. Has been invited to Taiwan, France, Poland, USA, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Indonesia, Philippines, Spain, Mexico, Greece, Russian Federation, Moscow, and China, nearly 70 international exhibitions, 76 solo exhibitions, and nearly 300 joint exhibitions at home and abroad.  2012 Indonesia International Watercolor Tour Invitational Exhibition (Jakarta, Yogyakarta, Sony Bali.) Herman Pekel

Born in Melbourne in 1956 of Dutch parents, Herman was 17 when he held his first solo exhibition in Melbourne: it was a sell-out success. He spent three years studying and painting in Amsterdam and London, where he encountered the works of Constable, Turner and Rembrandt. These impressed him and influenced his own work. On returning to Melbourne in 1982 he began studying for his fine arts degree at the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology. Dale Hickey, Jeff Makin and Clifton Pugh are just a few of the contemporary artists under whom Herman studied and who were instrumental in cultivating his appreciation of contemporary art, as well as experimentation with abstract impressionism. His tonal works, in oil and watercolour, range from city and landscapes to café and bar interiors to dynamic industrial scenery. They all demonstrate the very best of contemporary impressionism.
